after "Paphnutius or The Conversion of the Harlot Thaïs", a play originally written in Latin by Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim (935–1002); after Paphnutius (Greek: Παφνούτιος), from Egyptian: pa-ph-nuti ("he who belongs to God")
